Thank you for being a user of Wreckfinder. We are grateful for the support received over the past couple of years.
The Wreckfinder team received notifications from Apple stating that the application would be removed from the app store unless it was updated. This put us in a position to make important decisions about where to take Wreckfinder into the future.
We are pleased to announce that over the past year we have been carefully planning the next step for growing Wreckfinder into something bigger and better with more wrecks and increased accuracy of information.
We have new members of the team that have joined us and they have been working hard to build the new systems and applications to ensure we have a stable system that can be constantly improved over the years to come.
However, as part of these upgrades the costs to run Wreckfinder have increased. So in order for the business to operate over the long term, the pricing model will be changing to subscriptions.
What is changing?
- Accounts - The app will be free to download and view wreck locations. Secondly, you can then register for an account to view further information about specific wrecks. Finally you can choose to become a premium subscriber in order to receive premium features such as coordinates and other detailed information about the wrecks.
- Premium subscriptions - if you choose to start a premium subscription, you'll be able to receive the full features of the application. You will also receive regularly updated official information from various government bodies.
What other features will you receive?
- More wrecks - we’ve increased the number of wrecks on our database. For the UK Wreck pack, there is now over 20,000 wrecks, which means over 5,000 more wrecks than the previous application!
- Updates - As part of the new subscription you'll get access to all the latest updates made to the app.
What if you paid for an earlier version of Wreckfinder?
Apple keeps all information about it's users private including your name, email and payment history. We have no way of knowing which users have bought a previous version of Wreckfinder and if you paid for a previous version, simply email me a copy of your iTunes payment receipt and I'll offer you a 3 month free trial of the new Wreckfinder Premium.
